Installation
Five-step verification plan

Choose a doorbell height of approximately 1.2 to 1.5 m and leave at least 6 cm clearance on its right side for removal.

Avoid a metal mounting surface when possible and use the included angle hardware to reduce unwanted motion events.

Place the monitor near the router and entrance: SwitchBot recommends an unobstructed maximum of about 10 m in houses and 5 m in apartments with a steel door.

Pair on the 2.4 GHz network and test live video, alerts, two-way audio and recording before permanently fixing the doorbell.

If using optional low-voltage power, remember that the wire only supplies charging power; it carries no video or data and the wire is not included.

What ownership requires
- Review saved-event retention and replace the included 4 GB microSD card only with a supported card of 512 GB or less.
- Plan battery removal and USB-C charging access before winter; low temperature can also reduce practical battery performance.
- Keep the app and firmware current, then review household access, notification recipients and cloud settings after changes.

Questions before buying
Is a paid cloud subscription required?
No for basic local recording. The base kit includes a 4 GB microSD card and supports cards up to 512 GB. During setup, the cloud-storage prompt can be postponed by choosing the equivalent of “Later.”
Can it work with SwitchBot Lock Ultra?
Yes. Official support documents say the Video Doorbell can pair with Lock, Lock Pro and Lock Ultra. Once paired, its built-in hub function can support remote lock control in the app without an additional hub; verify current app and firmware requirements.
How much does the included 4 GB card store?
SwitchBot estimates about 3,500 recorded events when each lasts roughly ten seconds. When the card is full, the oldest recordings are overwritten by new ones.
